WATTBANK^® VPP

Joining a Virtual Power Plant (VPP) allows you to receive some extra benefits from your solar and battery system.

By being part of the Diamond Energy’s WATTBANK^® VPP, you may be rewarded for your excess energy and you can help support the grid when the demand is high. This helps with Australia’s transition from using fossil fuel to being fully renewable.

We’ll also provide you a WATTBANK^® VPP Credit with a minimum of $250 and up to $450 per annum based on your Solar Capacity, Battery Usable Capacity and Inverter Size installed as per the following:

You will also earn Battery Usage Credit at 30c/kWh (inclusive of GST) for energy exported to the grid between 6pm and 8am.

Please note there is a WATTBANK^® VPP Establishment Fee of $68 (including GST) to help cover our costs of activation. This will apply in addition to any Establishment Fee that may apply with our readily available market offer.

Our current list of compatible inverters include most models by Sungrow and Alpha ESS. If you have an inverter from Growatt, Goodwe, Fronius, LG or another brand not listed, you can register your interest here and we’ll contact you when your inverter can be integrated into Wattbank VPP.

Other eligibility criteria includes that you:

• Have a compatible solar battery system with Minimum Battery Usable Capacity of 5kWh; PV size of 5kW DC and Inverter Capacity of 3kW
• Are a residential customer in SA, VIC, NSW, QLD (Energex, only) and apply online for our readily available market offer
• Are not participating in any other virtual power plan program
• Have a smart meter and a continuous broadband internet connection
• Allow us to have continued access and control of the solar and battery system
• Have no occupants residing at your premises reliant on life support equipment

We keep a close eye on the electricity market. As a Wattbank VPP participant, we may:

• Change the time the battery charges from solar generation,
• Change the time the energy stored in the battery is used in your home,
• Limit excess solar being sent to the grid, and;
• Occasionally, if we see a need in the electricity market, we may charge up the battery from the grid or discharge the battery electricity to the grid.

We like to keep it simple with one set of market offers for all customers. You’ll receive our readily available market offer in your region with the Wattbank VPP as an add-on. Your Diamond Energy electricity bill includes daily supply charges, charges for electricity you use from the grid and feed in credits.

With WATTBANK^® VPP, you’re electricity bill will also include:

• WATTBANK^® VPP Credit for our ongoing access and management
• Battery Usage Credit for the excess energy we export to the grid during the hours of 6pm to 8am

Your first bill will also include a WATTBANK^® VPP Establishment Fee of $68 (including GST) to cover our costs of activation. This will apply in addition to any Establishment Fee that may apply with our readily available market offer.

If you have a new solar and battery system approved with Plenti, upon our verification with Plenti, we will waive the WATTBANK VPP Establishment Fee and any Establishment Fee that may apply with our readily available market offer.

Our agreements are ongoing, they can be cancelled and there are no exit fees. This means you can switch to another electricity retailer at any time. You can cancel your participation in Wattbank VPP at any time by notifying us.
