Energy Bill Relief Fund Extension

The Australian Government has announced a $1.8 billion extension of the Energy Bill Relief Fund, building on the $3.5 billion in energy bill relief delivered during the 2024–25 financial year.

From 1 July 2025 until the end of the year, eligible Australian households and small businesses may receive up to $150 in energy bill rebates. In most cases, no action is required, and eligible customers will automatically receive the rebates.

These rebates will be applied as a series of credits to eligible electricity accounts.

Eligible Households
Eligible residential households with an active electricity account may receive additional rebates of up to $150, applied as two quarterly instalments of $75.

Customers in Queensland, New South Wales, and South Australia will receive the rebates in two quarterly instalments, while Victorian customers will see the credits applied on 1 July 2025 and 1 October 2025.

To access the energy bill relief rebate, households must:

  • hold an active electricity account with an energy retailer for their place of residence
  • use their electricity account for domestic use only. Commercial properties are not eligible to receive the household bill relief

Eligible Small Business Customers
Eligible small businesses in Queensland, South Australia, and New South Wales may receive an additional $150 rebate from the Australian Government, applied as two $75 credits to electricity bills starting from 1 July 2025. In Victoria, eligible small businesses will receive the full $150 rebate as a single lump sum credit.

We are currently awaiting confirmation of the specific eligibility criteria for small businesses in each state. To qualify, your business may need to:

  • Be on a separately metered business electricity tariff

Each eligible business customer is entitled to receive one rebate payment only, regardless of the number of businesses or sites they operate.
